The newsroom runs on three habits: named bylines, sourced figures, and a public corrections ledger. Everything else — words, design, voice — sits underneath those. The article below explains how that translates into day-to-day coverage.
Where scores come from
Every score, fixture and standing on this site is pulled from a licensed sports-data provider via our integration. The provider is named on each live centre, match report and standings widget, alongside the timestamp of the last refresh. We do not type scores in by hand during play.
What “live” means
A match page moves to live when our integration reports the moment play began. The score then updates as structured score events arrive. The median lag between an event reaching the provider and showing on this site is two minutes during steady play. DRS reviews, technical stoppages and unscheduled breaks can extend that. The update time underneath the score tells you when the page last refreshed.
Abandoned, postponed and replayed matches
Postponed fixtures are removed from the live schedule with a banner explaining the reason. Abandoned matches hold their score at the moment play stopped; we do not retroactively calculate a result. Where a governing body rules a replay or a walkover, the fixture is reset to a scheduled state and the ruling is linked from the page.
Sources and verification
We treat three categories differently:
- Confirmed — issued by the club, federation, or our reporter at the venue with a working quote.
- Reported — single source credible but not yet corroborated; we name the source and add a verification check.
- Rumour — agent, social media, or speculation; not published as news. Where a rumour becomes the story, we say so explicitly.
Bylines and authorship
Every story on this site is filed by a named journalist on the desk. Each byline links to the reporter’s reachable email. Stories with no byline are automated data updates; treat them as such.
Corrections
If you spot a problem with a story — a wrong score, a misspelled name, an outdated stat — reply to the reporter or open our corrections page. Substantive issues are reviewed, fixed where warranted, and added to the public ledger with a note explaining the change.
What we don’t do
We don’t publish odds, we don’t host predictions for sale, we don’t place display ads disguised as editorial copy, and we don’t run sponsored sections under a byline. Our commercial team is reachable through the contact page.

How the form guide works
Weighting
League matches count fully; cup games and friendlies scale down. Postponed fixtures are excluded from the count.
Window
The last five completed matches, ranked oldest to newest. The order matters: the curve is the story.
Sources
Statistics come from the licensed feed; availability comes from the team sheet. Where the two disagree, the team sheet wins.
